My name is Tammy Mosier. I started Bear's Boot Scoot'n in 2015. The main Australian Cattle Dog that set me on this 10-year journey is Bear. He has an amazing love for people, a temperament that is so amazing and has passed to his offspring. Bear has worked as a typical Cattle Dog, herding any animal that needs herding. His primary job when his vest comes on is that of a Service Dog. He has the ability to redirect panic attacks, calm a PTSD episode, and alert on blood sugar. Bear helped many nurses and doctors smile during 2020-2021 through visiting hospitals and rehabs.

Over the years, he sired pups who have gone on to be great service dogs for veterans, retired law enforcement, and civilians.

I made it a practice to donate these pups. It's not always about the dollar but compassion and caring for people.

Over the last couple of years, the increased price of food and vet expenses have made it extremely hard to cover expenses. At the end of 2023 till now, I have decreased the number of pups born, which hurt the finances of the program. My retirement from nursing has not helped.

This endeavor has not been placed on solely selling pups but has been an endeavor from the heart to improve the breed in regards to temperament, making them calmer and better family protectors.

In regards to the aged heelers who have been with me since pups who were part of the early breeding program, they have not been rehomed due to retiring from breeding. They are 10 to 12 years old now and it is absolutely not acceptable to rehome them at their ages. They are not throwaway heelers. They are family.

I have been discussing the option of starting a retirement program for heelers, keeping them out of shelters and especially high-kill facilities. They don't deserve their lives to be ended in that manner.

Over the last couple of years, I have been contacted about some who were in dire need of stable environments or have gone through their owner's death. I have taken those heelers back home, which has further made the expenses for food and care harder to cover.

Cattledog Retirement and Rescue has been approved by the State Secretary of Ohio!!

They deserve more. I have been able to rehome a couple of the intakes.
