Steve and Adri Hogg, our dear friends and the loved ones of many, welcomed their second beautiful daughter to this world the second week of June. Rylie Lynne Hogg.
She was happy and healthy however, through an assessment by her astute parents, noticed that something was not right on her 3rd day home from the hospital. They took her to the emergency room for evaluation and she was promptly sent by ambulance to Saginaw with pediatric specialists. She was admitted for observation. That evening, Rylie started to go into cardiogenic shock. She was intubated as a precaution. Further tests were preformed and it was discovered that Rylie has a congenital cardiac abnormality including a hole between her ventricles (VSD) and aortic coartation (narrowing of the aorta). She was stabilized and then air lifted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Saturday morning.
She is stable, has been evaluated by many specialists and will be undergoing open heart surgery within the week.
To help ease the mind of new parents who's world was turned upside-down in the blink of an eye, I have started this fundraiser. The funds will help with medical bills, transportation to and from the hospital, food, housing, unpaid time off and any miscellaneous expenses that will arise. The doctors are not able to give them a time frame of how long she will be in NICU but have been given an estimate of about 4 weeks.
Any amount of monetary donation is greatly appreciated but not expected. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as the road to recovery has just begun. We know that power is great.
