This is our story of origin.
"It all started with a spaghetti supper where the dream of creating a "Haliburton-style" School of the Arts was born. A group of 15 community members, less than half of them being established artists, decided to create a school that would offer art courses to the local residents and offer employment to the many qualified local artists.
Over the next several months, a smaller group kept meeting and planning art courses. In the first year, Pontiac School of the Arts (PSOTA) held classes in Dr SE McDowell’s school’s empty classrooms. Because there was really no available budget, it was agreed to provide an activity for all ages in the school of which the end product was a mural.
The MRC Pontiac is rich in culture, picturesque countryside and talented artists, writers and artisans. Through the hard work of some of these creators, in company with some very dedicated community members, this dream of an art school came to being".

In recent years the school was paused due to several issues that impacted the functioning of the school.
Recently a new board was formed with members who have the necessary skills and experience to revitalize both artPontiac and the Pontiac School of Arts.
Part of this revitalization includes a digital retransformation.
This retransformation has been made possible through a grant funded by the MRC.
We are happy to announce that the retransformation is underway and includes digital equipment and software for teaching at the Pontiac School of the Arts.
As it is a non-profit organization, we are asking for donations that will be used for the following.
Art Teachers
Art Supplies
Administrative Wages
Advertising for the school
These funds are essential for the implementation of the digital equipment and software. As the school becomes fully functional and gains momentum, the goal of becoming self sustainable will be within our reach.
