Donate to Help April Fight Against Cancer

Hi family and friends! My name is Whitney and I created this fundraiser because my cousin, April, better known as Goldie, A-peezy and Mz. SLAYPRIL, has recently discovered she has cancer. The cancer has spread through her lymphatic system and doctors are calling it stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma. Although the prognosis is good for this type of cancer, April is undergoing an aggressive chemotherapy treatment, and it has taken a toll on her ability to care for herself physically and financially. She is being cared for by her mother. Those who know April would describe her as “strong,” and always there for everyone when they need her. She is currently in development of a business to help young people enter the beauty industry. She loves working with young people and her students become like family to her! She makes it a point to show up for the people she loves! So, this time, we want to show up for her and raise money to take care of the financial burden this disease has caused. She has been denied FMLA and short term disability, and is currently seeking legal counsel. We really need to come together family. Thank you, we appreciate anything you can offer, and we love you all!

Background:

It all began May 2022, when April started noticing the lymph nodes on her neck swelling and becoming tender. She went to her physician and they wrote it off as an infection and treated her with antibiotics. But the pain and discomfort persisted and lymph nodes kept swelling. This prompted her to seek medical care frequently because the antibiotics were not helping. Throughout this ordeal she had lost 100 lbs and still no answers.

By December, the doctors ordered a biopsy to determine if it was cancerous but the biopsy returned negative and lymph nodes were still swollen.
By January, the right lymph nodes on her neck were even more swollen, symptoms had doubled, especially the pain; so her doctor scheduled her for surgery to remove the lymph node and perform a more in depth biopsy.

A week before surgery, April almost passed out a home, so she drove herself to the emergency room. At the emergency room, her vitals were all abnormal. They decided to keep her, and perform the surgery immediately. By this time it was March. She had several other tests performed including ct scans before surgery.

The next Saturday, April was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma.
She has had about three surgeries and now has a port where she receives chemotherapy through.

The plan for her treatment is 6 months of chemotherapy, and radiation therapy is to be determined.

Please keep April in your thoughts and prayers as she battles this disease. In the name of the Lord, she will come out victorious and her testimony will be the stepping stone to her future successes!
