Apollo Orion Surgery & Chemo

Hi our names are Nancy (Jacqueline) & Mitchell, We are the parents to a fluffy boy named Apollo Orion who is about to turn 5 in November.

A few weeks ago Apollo developed a hacking cough. Last Monday September 12 we took him to the vet and he was cleared (he had no other symptoms and breathing, eating, playing was normal). We were given pills for the cough. It didn’t go away, it just got worse. We took him back to the vet yesterday September 21st, and again the vet cleared him and we went home.

If you know Apollo, he’s always excited for food and snacks and always eats his food, never leaves anything behind… Well yesterday he barely touched his dinner, he eventually ate it, but He just wasn’t himself after that.

At midnight we brought him to the emergency room due to breathing problems. He was x-rayed and has been diagnosed with spontaneous pneumothorax, they put a needle in him to release the accumulated air and he went into cardiac arrest. Our hearts just broke, anyone that knows Mitchell and I knows that we would do anything for our fluffy children (Atlas & Apollo).

He is now breathing on his own, but it’s not looking too good. In the morning we were told that his X-rays showed a large mass on his chest, it could be a tumor or could be the bulla that raptured and released fluids into his lungs. All of this is due to underlying lung disease, something we weren’t aware of until this morning.

He’s had blood work done twice in the last year and bloodwork done this morning, all that came back good. He’s also had regular check ups and is up to date with vaccinations and teeth cleanings. He eats well and is is properly taken care of. We were told that sometimes it just comes unexpected and there would have been no way to know prior.

Apollo is a very sweet, gentle and loving boy. He loves food, strawberries, peanut butter, adventuring, napping and cuddling. He gives the very best hugs, He’s always in a good mood and Hes’s such a good boy.

Anything raised will go toward Apollos vet bills, surgery, recovery & chemo. Any amount small or large will be greatly appreciated.
