Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to read!

It's time for me, Anna Marie Brown, to have a permanent home. There is so much more I want to do and be for my community, but it is a real struggle to be civically and culturally involved when you have unstable housing. Port Townsend, WA has a well-documented and extreme housing crisis, and many, many good, contributing, hardworking folks don't have stable housing. I am one of them. Despite that, here is what I've managed to contribute in a volunteer capacity in just the last couple years that I've proudly call Port Townsend home: I am a radio DJ and show producer at KPTZ, as well as a fundraising, tabling, and production volunteer. I have been a Theatre Lead years running with the Port Townsend Film Festival. And with local non-profits Salt Fire community theatre and Port Townsend Youth Theater, I've volunteered with scenery, props, design, and front of house. I also run my own home-organizing business, which I built myself. I have and continue to contribute a lot, but I am exhausted from the housing instability. I'm a proud citizen, and I want to make this place my forever home. I want to grow a garden, volunteer at the fairgrounds and with youth organizations, join a softball team, and so many other things... But in order to do that, I need to get out of survival mode.

I'm on the road to purchasing my own tiny house, and I'm putting out the call for your financial help. The process this far has been an enormous labor of love. I was just very recently gifted, by a very dear friend, the money for the down payment on the house. Another close friend has agreed to be a co-signer on the loan. (My student loan debt + the current administration's malignant fiddlings with federal loan repayment plans has made it impossible for me to qualify for a mortgage loan on my own...) Finally, a dear client-friend has offered to develop her land appropriately, so that I can park the tiny home upon it, hook up to city utilities, and live happily ever after. —I feel enormously blessed and humbled by the love, friendship, and teamwork making this all possible.

Tiny homes have come a long way. I am purchasing a new, manufactured tiny house on wheels, which meets state certifications and City of Port Townsend permitting regulations. The model I'm in the process of purchasing (as you can see in the pictures) is swanky, and looks like a real house. It is 392 sq feet, plus a 150 sq foot loft, and an 8ft porch. It's well-designed, and cozy but not actually tiny. I am very, very excited to be making this tiny house my home.

Now, I just need this push over the finish line. I've got the $ for the down payment. Hurray! Now I just need to raise the funds for tiny house skirting, gutters, and stairs; the permitting costs; and the cost of a refrigerator, a washer and dryer, a wood-burning stove (a must in a location with frequent power outages and long dark winters), and a small storage shed. I know I can do it, with your help.

Having my own tiny home means more financial ease (the mortgage will be more than $200 less a month than I'm paying for rent!), plus the security and stability that I sorely need, so that I may participate more fully in my community and give back to the town I call home. I am so ready move on from "survival mode."

My goal is to raise $10,000. I can get there with a whole lotta help.
Please give what you can. I am, and will forever be, so very grateful. And my community will see many, many good things come of it.

I thank you kindly for reading, and for your consideration.
Wish me luck!
