Andrew needs a helping hand, prayers, words of kindness, and any support you can provide. He’s not doing well and is at the hospital getting care due to a bad fall he took on December 22, 2022. We’ve created this GoFundMe with hopes that you can find it in your heart to make a donation to help aid in his recovery, especially medical care.
He’s been through so much since his wife Jen passed away from cancer four years ago, raising their daughter on his own. In that short time, he has had 2 separate surgeries on each shoulder and was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Last year, he started preparing for retirement by purchasing a rental property in Florida as an investment until he was ready to move down there for retirement. Then right before his first payment was due, Hurricane Ian caused $100K in damages to the property. At that point, since he couldn’t rent it due to the damages, he was forced to sell his current home, find a job, and move to Florida. He moved to Florida on December 21, 2022 and was going to take a few days to start making repairs before starting his new job, but the very next day he fell from the top of a ladder. He was hurt so badly they had to use a LifeStar helicopter to rush him to a hospital. He broke three vertebrae in his back and has two compound fractures in his right femur, requiring a steel rod inserted through the entire length of his femur. He’s still at the hospital/rehab and it will be a very long road back to health. Needless to say, he had to quit his new job before he started, so he doesn’t have insurance or an income coming in. He qualified for charity assistance but is still responsible for 25% of the hospital bill. The cost to date is over $200K and he is going to get into more debt by not working.
The doctors are projecting 1-2 years of no work, because he’s required to undergo a series of knee, back, and shoulder surgeries. Each surgery is dependent on how quickly he heals from another. First, he has to learn how to walk again. They just took out 35 staples, after almost a month of recovery. He will not be able to walk or care for himself for a long time. His daughter has gone to live with her step-sister in Boston indefinitely while he heals in Florida, but he needs support to be able to make it through the year and not lose his home. Any little bit will help.
Thank you!
