Hi everyone, for those who don't know me, my name is Andrea, and I'm a 31-year-old single mom to five incredible boys. The end of 2023 brought a lot of changes, and I've been navigating single motherhood ever since. I'm fortunate to have a full-time job in early childhood education that's flexible with my kids' needs, and I'm excited (and a little nervous!) to start college this fall to become a certified teacher. Working with children is my passion, and I know this will open up even more opportunities for me.
It's hard for me to ask for help because I'm usually the one offering it when I can. But recently, my car, which is essential for getting to work, taking my kids to appointments, and their activities like Boys and Girls Club and sports, broke down. I had some maintenance done, but unfortunately, the engine is knocking and needs serious repair. This summer has been tough because we've been stuck at home, missing our usual park trips, church nights, and other fun outings.
Being the sole financial provider and active parent for five boys is challenging. I'm doing my best to balance work, school, and their needs, but it's a constant struggle. Depression creeps in sometimes, but I keep pushing forward for my kids. I recently found out that a new engine would cost a little over $6,000, which is way too expensive for me right now. So, I'm hoping to raise around $3,500 to get a cheap, reliable car or van for my kids and me. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated and would help us get back on our feet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I appreciate any support you can offer to help us.
