My name is Ana Cristina. I am a 45-year-old working woman, wife, and mother of two extraordinary teenagers. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by a circle of loving family and friends that care for me as much as I care for them.

In June, my life took a 180-degree turn when I went to a routine doctor’s appointment and received terrible news: a Retroperitoneal liposarcomas, a malignant tumor the size of a basketball, was found occupying half my abdomen.

In shock, I shared this terrible news with my close family, but they were incredibly supportive and we got to work. We found an excellent group of doctors who designed a treatment to save my life. The first step was a lengthy operation to remove the massive tumor. And after a few days in the hospital’s medium care unit, I was out of danger and ready to start the next part of treatment: 6 chemotherapy cycles lasting 5 months.

I have already received the first 3 cycles. These sessions are very difficult, and have drained both my energy and my immune system. Each session requires that I stay in the hospital for 5 days. I still need 3 more ambulatory chemotherapies, but my doctors promise these sessions will be easier on my body.

Unfortunately, just as we thought the worst of this experience was over, I learned that my medical insurance has reached its coverage limit. I never thought I would have to go through such a vicious illness, one that would drain both my medical coverage and also risk the possibility of not finishing my treatment. I still need 3 more sessions and 2 PET scans, as well as a prescription for a medication that I will have to take for over a year.

This is why I have come to you, my loved ones, to ask you for help. My family has created a fundraising campaign to raise 30,000 dollars to pay for the rest of my treatment, as well as any other medical tests that might be necessary.

No amount is too small. One of the most important things you can do is share this campaign with as many people as you can, so we can reach our goal in the least amount of time possible. With the love and care that you all have shown me and my family throughout this process makes me certain that we will make it.

Mi nombre es Ana Cristina soy una mujer trabajadora de 45 años, esposa y madre de dos extraordinarios adolescentes. Rodeada de un círculo amoroso de familiares y amigos que siempre estamos el uno para el otro.

En junio de este año mi vida dio un giro de 180 grados. Fui a una consulta médica que pensaba iba a ser fácil y casi de rutina, pero recibí una terrible noticia: me encontraron un enorme liposarcoma retroperitoneal, en otras palabras, un tumor del tamaño de una pelota de basket ball que abarcaba la mitad de mi abdomen.

Aún en shock, pude compartirle a mi familia la mala noticia y todos con la mayor fortaleza posible pusimos manos a la obra. Un excelente grupo de médicos creó el mejor tratamiento para salvarme la vida.

Lo primero fue remover el enorme tumor a través de una cirugía radical. A pesar de que estuve hospitalizada con cuidados intensivos, logré recuperarme positivamente. Ya sin el tumor estaba lista para iniciar la segunda parte del tratamiento: 6 ciclos de quimioterapia.

Ya llevo los primeros 3 ciclos de quimioterapia que han sido sumamente fuertes para mi cuerpo y mi sistema inmune, requiriendo una estancia en el hospital de 5 días por su nivel de intensidad y la gran cantidad de medicamentos que conlleva. Aún me faltan 3 más y sé que es lo que necesito hacer para seguir luchando por recuperar mi salud por completo.

Desafortunadamente, justo cuando pensábamos que lo más difícil había pasado, me enteré de que llegué al límite de la cobertura de mi seguro médico. Nunca me imaginé que iba a enfrentar algo tan grave y difícil de tratar, algo tan complejo que agotara mi seguro y mis posibilidades de concluir mi tratamiento. Aún me faltan 3 sesiones de quimioterapia ambulatoria, 2 estudios PET y medicamentos que tendré que tomar por alrededor de un año.

Por esto recurro a ustedes, mis seres más queridos y cercanos, les pido ayuda.

Mi familia creó una campaña para solicitar apoyo económico. Necesito reunir la cantidad de 500,000 pesos para poder cubrir el resto del tratamiento así como cualquier medicamento o estudio para mi recuperación completa.

Sabemos que suena a mucho, pero con todas sus muestras de amor y cariño y toda la ayuda que nos han ofrecido en estos últimos meses, estamos seguros de que vamos a lograrlo. Ninguna cantidad es pequeña: lo importante es sumarnos todos.

También les pido que compartan esta información para comunicar mi petición al mayor número de personas y así poder llegar a la cantidad que necesito lo antes posible.
