05/24 my mom found a kitten on a busy road, narrowly missing getting hit by a vehicle. She had severe injuries to her face, so we took her to a local emergency vet. The vet told us that she is 2.5-3 weeks old and that she's a girl. They told us that the skin on her chin had been "degloved," possibly from rolling on the asphalt. The vet was able to do surgery on her and reattach the injured skin back to her chin. There was a risk associated with this procedure because she's so young they weren't able to place a breathing tube, so there was a possibility that she would pass away during the process.

05/25 I called as soon as I woke up to see how she did. They said that she did great and that her personality is really coming out now. We have to give antibiotics and pain medicine for a while, but she should make a good recovery!

The emergency vet, however, was quite expensive and she will need to get vaccinated and spayed. We're asking for $1,500 to pay for the vet and her medical expenses. Anything over that will be donated to the local Greenville Humane Society, which is a no-kill shelter that helps animals find a home and gives medical care. Thank you for reading our story.
