Donate to Help Amy’s Family After a Terminal Diagnosis

Hello everyone,
My best friend, Amy Quillen, has been given a terminal diagnosis and her family needs your help.
Amy is an amazing wife and mother of three. She is a constant source of unconditional love and strength. She is everyone’s biggest fan. She does so in every action, decision, and gesture made. Amy spent many years teaching in some of the toughest schools where she truly loved her students and made a profound impact. Amy not only made an impression on her students, but made a lasting impression on many colleagues.
In August of 2021, Amy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She went through six rounds of chemotherapy, and was able to ring the bell cancer free.
We were all overjoyed and happy to have things back to normal, until October of 2023 when they found that the ovarian cancer had returned. Amy continued with more rounds of chemotherapy, and beat it for a second time. This time around, both her and her medical team found that doing infusions every 3 weeks was the best possible option to ensure that the cancer would not return. At this point, Amy decided she would be forced to retire early on an early medical retirement plan even though teaching was her passion. She didn’t like this decision, but if she chose to continue working and needed another medical leave, she would lose all benefits.
Which brings me to Fall of 2024. Amy hadn’t been able to get her infusions for a little while due to her white blood cell counts being too low. Her doctors decided to send her to a specialist at Tampa General Hospital, where she would hopefully get more insight. After extensive testing, it was found that Amy had developed AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The AML was caused by her specific chemotherapy treatments, and only happens in 1% of patients. Amy was given a diagnosis of terminal.
After much consideration Amy chose not to forgo any further treatment. She decided that she had put her body through enough, and she would like to spend the rest of her time with her family chemo free.
During all of this, doctors found a blockage in her intestines which cannot be surgically corrected due to her white cell counts being so low, and has resulted in multiple hospital stays and mounting medical bills. Amy is unable to keep most foods down due to her blockage, and is extremely weak and frail from the Leukemia. We are unsure how much time she has left.
I am asking that you donate if you are able. This will help lessen the burden of medical costs and funeral preparations for her family. If you cannot donate, please share and spread the word on all social media platforms.
And lastly, I ask that you keep Amy and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
