Hello, my name is Emily, I have started this go fund me to assist my sister Amy and her husband Trevor to help them during a stressful, difficult, and overwhelming time in their lives.

My sister Amy was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma cancer 5 years ago. Amy’s first surgery in 2020 was during the start of COVID. Her surgery did not go as planned, she was left with significant physical and emotional scars from the trauma she endured. Amy underwent 1 year of immunotherapy treatment following her first surgery.

In October 2024, Amy underwent a second surgery to remove a tumour from her bowel.

On September 12, Amy will be having her third surgery, a partial lobectomy to remove a tumour that has been growing rapidly on her left lung. She is expected to be in hospital for several days, and her recovery at home will be several weeks.

Amy has not been able to work for the last 5 years, her CPP disability income is limited. Amy’s husband Trevor is currently working; however his employment is seasonal and he has not been given as many hours as expected.

Amy lives in Trenton, over the last 5 years she has had to travel for all her medical appointments; Kingston, Belleville, and even Mississauga for her PET scans.

Navigating though cancer treatment has been emotionally exhausting and financially burdensome. Amy and Trevor do not have private drug coverage or extended health benefits.

This page was created to help relieve some of the financial pressure on Amy and Trevor during this next surgical journey that will be followed by more immunotherapy treatment. The donations received will help cover medical expenses, everyday essentials, and basic needs to support Amy’s recovery.
