Donate to help Alli heal from cancer

When I heard the news of Alli getting a rare cancer, I thought “no, not Alli”. How is it that the person who has dedicated her life to caring for others, who is the most incredible mother, is the one to get cancer. Just when they were so happy with their new life in Perth. Life can be so cruel and unexpected.

But then I remembered that Alli is a fighter, a survivor. She has always found a way through whatever challenging situation she was in, and I know this will be no different.

But the financial reality of Alli’s cancer is as overwhelming as the emotional turmoil and physical drain of being sick.

In September 2023 Tom and Alli and their children Tabitha 9 and Leo 7, moved interstate to Perth to start their new life in the sun, and both set up new businesses. But now Alli can’t work and Tom has to work significantly less to care for Alli and the children. The lost income is debilitating, and means they won’t be able to cover their living expenses until Alli is better and able to work... a long journey lies ahead.

Not only that, but the practical realities of life like cooking, cleaning and getting the kids to school are going to become increasingly difficult to manage as Alli undergoes a major operation to remove the tumours (see below). Tom and Alli have no family in Perth to support them, and so part of the funds raised here will go towards hiring in-home support for them, which will make a massive difference to their lives.

Also, in her determination to rid herself of cancer, Alli wants (needs) to go to a holistic cancer therapy clinic, to repair her immune system and heal the other known root causes of cancer. These clinics costs $50,000 - $100,000.

Alli's surgery and chemotherapy

Alli needs a peritmectomy - a long and invasive surgery where they strip all evidence of disease. They will remove the stomach lining, right diaphragm, ovaries and anywhere else they see tumours, followed by chemotherapy. It is then a long road to recovery to normalise abdominal function.

Alli has 6 weeks to prepare herself for the operation so she is physically strong enough. During this time she wants to attend a holistic cancer clinic to focus on healing her tumours naturally, in an attempt to shrink them and minimise what needs to be taken out.

Whilst we can’t take away her physical and emotional suffering, we can make a huge difference to their financial and daily life stress, and support Alli’s holistic healing.

So we are asking us to rally together and chip in to ease their burden. Every little bit counts, whatever you can afford. We can all make a practical difference, so that Alli can focus on healing and getting back to her beautiful life.

Thank you so much,
Bec x

About Alli and the cancer:

Alli is one in a million. All her life she has cared for others young and old as a nurse prescriber, palliative care nurse, special needs teachers assistant and disability support carer.

Alli was admitted to hospital on Christmas day with suspected appendicitis, she underwent emergency surgery which revealed a rare appendiceal cancer LAMN (affects 1:million) and her appendix and part of her bowel were removed.

Further exploration revealed that her appendix had ruptured, leading to further spread of tumours on her ovaries, stomach lining and diaphragm - a condition called PMP disease.

Alli has remained positive and uses her children and Tom as her driving force for recovery. She believes in treating herself holistically before and after surgery and chemo to heal and minimise the chance of the cancer returning.

She has found strength in following other people with similar stories and hopes one day her story may help someone else experiencing similar journeys and to raise awareness of Lamn and PMP.
