Hi, I run a small trail riding business and I recently purchased Alfie who was sold to me as a beginner friendly horse. Unfortunately it has become clear that he is definitely not suitable for this.

When we went to look at Alfie he was in poor condition with all of his ribs showing and I actually felt bad getting on him. He was ok to ride and so I felt extremely sorry for him, and decided to buy him and bring him home.

After a couple of weeks with unlimited grazing and feed he was a different horse and definitely not one I’d feel comfortable putting our guests on.

I think Alfie has had a pretty unpleasant life and I’d just like to give him a home as a pet or companion.

There is no way I would try to resell him as a beginner horse to retrieve the money I paid for him as it would be completely dishonest to do so.

Even though he was in poor condition he was advertised on gumtree for $6000 and I didn’t think for one minute someone would advertise an 18 year old horse for this money if he was in fact not suitable for first time riders.

Our business relies on having safe reliable horses to continue so we will need to purchase another one so this is why I’m asking for your help.

A lot of the animals on the farm are rescues and most of the money made goes into giving them the best life possible.
