Hi, my name is Ivania. I’m the General Manager of Chicken + Whiskey on 14th St. I’m starting this fundraiser to help my dear friend and employee Alba, who is battling with ovarian cancer.

Alba is someone who at Chicken + Whiskey we refer to as a friend, and for some, a family member. She has been working with us for over 3 years and always comes in with a smile from cheek to cheek.

Alba would usually spend 10 to 12 hours at work to help us get through the busy days. She would always be ready to lend a hand when needed. 

One evening in October 2021, Alba confided in me that she was going to be taken in to surgery. She did not know what was wrong. We later found out she had Ovarian Cancer and had to get her ovaries removed. 

She is currently going through chemotherapy and still has a few more sessions to endure.

I am starting this fundraiser because she needs financial support for her medical bills as she does not have a real support network to rely on as an immigrant in the Unites States. Alba has only a few family members here and has no way to get government support.

Now it’s time for us to lend her a hand too. Any donation no matter how small will help Alba fight this battle.
