Hello to all my fellow cosmetologists and the like. If you shop at our Burleson Armstrong/McCall, you know Clay. He has been with the company for 12 years. I’m going to tell you HIS story, for him.
Back in April, his wife, Erin, had a seizure while home alone with their autistic daughter Carlee (15) and their preschooler, Allison (4). Carlee was able to get help for her mom to the house and Erin was hospitalized while they tried to find reasons for her collapse. They diagnosed her with an inoperable brain cavernoma. These masses don’t typically bleed, but hers had ruptured. They can’t say whether it’ll cause another seizure in the future or not, and removing it is too risky. They have diagnosed her with epilepsy also. This leaves their future full of questions, as she is the sole caretaker of their two daughters and she home schools Carlee. Flash forward to 2 weeks ago, and Clay himself woke up unable to move his left arm and couldn’t breathe. He was able to get to JPS by himself and was diagnosed with a sporadic lung collapse and was rushed into surgery to reattach his left lung. He spent a week in hospital and will be off work another 4-6 wks depending on recovery. As if that wasn’t enough to get (them) down, during his ordeal, they found a nodule on his right lung that has to be biopsied after he recovers from this surgery. The doctors have told him to prepare for the worst, as (the mass) doesn’t appear good. Clay was the only income provider for the family and now, they are surviving only due to his big brother helping support two households. ( y’all should know his brother Bob, he has worked for the Fort Worth Armstrong-McCall for 18 years!)
I KNOW all of our community’s stylists would be willing to donate for this family once they heard his story. They just need a break! Let’s wrap our hard working arms around them and help pull them up enough to be able to make it through these trying times. We might not be able to help with the emotional toll and stress, but maybe we can put a little cash in their pockets to at least pay their bills while they endure the rest of their nightmare. Thank y’all in advance!
