Hello, we are Miriam and Jorge, and let us introduce you to Agustin Barrientos. He has been our friend for more than 20 years and we know him very well, like a brother. He is a man who migrated from Mexico over 45 years ago to San Francisco, CA. In spite of his limited means, he was able to find a job and after hard work and commitment, he became an expert in crafting limb prosthetics with his own hands. Because of that, he has dedicated more than 38 years to fulfilling the dreams of thousands of people, regardless of their nationality, status, or origin.

He never hesitates to help those in need, expecting nothing in return. He developed a technique called "Zacatecas", which significantly improved the fitting of prosthetics to patients' legs. This technique became so popular that hospitals began placing work orders for patients under the name "Zacatecas". He was advised to patent this technique and become wealthy, but his response was that he felt fulfilled by the success of his idea and was not interested in money in exchange for what he had created for people. A countless number of patients has come to his work to know and thank him in person.

Sadly, Agustin's dream has now been cut short as he was diagnosed in August 2023 with cancer of the ampulla of Vater. This is a rare cancer that requires extensive surgery, including the removal of parts of several organs (Whipple surgery), and his insurance does not cover it in full.

Today, Agustin needs the help of those kind hearts and continue living and helping others. Right know he is waiting for that surgery that will bring back to the path of life. That's why I've created without hesitation this GoFundMe campain to reach out to generous hearts and assist my friend.
