Greetings, My name is Abhay Sharma, proud father of Abhir Sharma. I've initiated this campaign to raise funds to help support Abhir's journey towards elevating his training and representing Canada on an International Stage.
Abhir embarked on his Taekwondo journey at the age of 5 in 2016 at Kick Nation Taekwondo in Georgetown, ON, under the tutelage of the esteemed Master Robert Khamsouk. Through Master Khamsouk's mentorship, Abhir has not only blossomed into a skilled athlete but also a diligent student and admirable individual. Taekwondo instilled in him values of discipline, hard work, determination, and perseverance, shaping his self-confidence, leadership, and character.
His journey began with a captivating demo class in 2016, and since then, he has continuously refined his skills under Master Khamsouk's guidance. Competing for nearly 7 years, Abhir has garnered medals and recognition, propelling his drive to excel. In addition to being a High Performance athlete, Abhir is also a Jr. Leader at Kick Nation Taekwondo, where he supports and mentors the younger students. He hopes to make a difference in the Next generation of Taekwondo Students and offer guidance and support with his experiences. Abhir has sacrificed so much being a High Performance athlete, and has given everything he has to train and focus on his journey. At such a young age, he has showed so many, what commitment and perseverance is.
In 2022, Abhir commenced high-performance training under Master Robert Khamsouk's rigorous regimen, dedicating six days a week to Taekwondo. Over the past two years, he has participated in various competitions and training camps across Canada and the U.S. More recently he has earned a Silver Medal at Provincials, and a Bronze medals at the National Championships.
This year, Abhir has been invited by Taekwondo Ontario to join an elite training camp with the Korean National Team in South Korea, followed by competing in the 2024 Kimunyong Cup International Open Taekwondo Championships in Muju, Korea. Taekwondo Ontario has generously extended some financial support, yet the bulk of the remaining balance must be self-funded.
The expenses for Abhir's training and travel are primarily self-funded, with each international tournament costing between $2,000 and $3,000 CAD per athlete. Thus, we aim to raise $10,000 CAD through this campaign to alleviate the financial burden and to support Abhir's journey, covering expenses for the Korean training camp and other competitions planned for the year.
Your contributions will not only assist in covering the costs of these expenses but it will also enable Abhir to pursue his passion at the highest levels, fostering his growth and experience.
We take immense pride in Abhir's achievements and wholeheartedly appreciate your support in his Taekwondo journey. Thank you for being a part of his remarkable endeavor.
