Hi, my name is Zaina, I live in the UK, and I'm fundraising for my friend Amjad Al-Rozzi who lives in Gaza, Palestine. His situation is not only tragic, but an emergency. The death and destruction has come back in full force, he urgently needs money for basic necessities. His uncle is dead, two of his siblings are severely injured, he will not survive without this money, please consider this when you make the decision on whether to donate or not.
"Hello my friends, I hope you are all well. I am Amjad, I am from Palestine (Gaza specifically), I am 18 years old.
I am currently solely responsible for my family of 8 people, and 2 pets, I have 4 sisters, a brother, 2 parents, a cat and a dog. My brother and one of my sisters are both severely injured , this alone is already such a huge responsibility for a young adult.
But on top of all of that, right now we have no source of income at all. We desperately wish to get away from this terrible situation, and have the chance to live a normal life, like you . ❤
We are dying of hunger , we are dying of thirst , our house (and every other building around us) has been completely demolished, so we all have to sleep in the bitter cold , with no solid roof above our heads whatsoever. ⛺
Right now we desperately need any money we can get our hands on to buy food (including food for my pet cat ), water, electricity, medicine and all the other basic necessities of life that we need to stay alive.
We need a lot of support , especially from you , the person reading this. You can help by donating any amount, no matter how small . We will be incredibly grateful for that.
We have been forced to beg for help from others , because our reality is that we live in a bloody, hungry war. For each member of my family, a story of their own struggle . I can go on for days and days, without interruption, about how terrible this situation is for each and every one of us. Even then, I couldn't express how awful we all feel.
Once, I was just like you. I read about people's suffering and tried to help with all my strength, but today this story has become my reality .
Maybe a bit of money doesn't sound like that big of a difference if I am trapped here, but it will make a difference if I get a chance to live again . The money we need will be a great crutch in providing the bare minimum of food and water , especially since we are in the northern part of Gaza.
If you need any more details to prove how miserable our lives are, we can send you some notes to read, unfortunately we do not have the internet to send videos, only pictures and text.
I can't water the seeds of hope if I don't have water in the first place ☘ ☹ , we are on the verge of death , unless you donate. Every donation will ease our pain..."
Here is a glimpse of what Amjad and his family have to go through:
This is all they have to live in now.
This is all they see everywhere they go, every building is empty and dilapidated. Notice the bullet holes, they are at risk of being shot even in the safety of their own homes.
Even walking through the remains is a massive struggle, there is rubble everywhere.
This is all that remains of Amjad's school, imagine going to school one day and finding this instead.
This is all they can do to cook their food now. The smell of smoke is overwhelming, there are insects and bacteria everywhere.
Not long ago, they lived a relatively normal life, Amjad worked hard for all of this, but tragically it was all in vain. The least we can do now is give them at least a bit of our spare change. I hope this short essay has given you a good enough glimpse of what it's like to live through something so horrific. Please consider whether a bit of your money would be better spent on this.
