Donate to Heather Newgen's Fight Against Breast Cancer

Hi everyone, My name is Emily, and I’m raising money for my dear friend Heather Newgen (Altamirano), who is battling grade 3, stage 2 breast cancer. 

She received the devastating news in April, just six months after marrying the man of her dreams, Rodney, and becoming a stepmom to his two beautiful daughters.

Since the diagnosis, every day has been a physical and mental fight toward remission.

Her journey started with a lumpectomy and lymph node dissection surgery that required weeks to heal. She’s now going through brutal rounds of chemotherapy, which she describes as a "psychological war" due to the mental and emotional effects of the treatment and steroids she must take. In addition, chemo makes her so sick she’s unable to eat or get out of bed for 10-12 days after each infusion, but she continues to fight. 

Next, she is facing radiation treatment five days a week for six weeks, followed by reconstructive surgery and five years of hormone blockers. Not to mention, all of her appointments and treatments require her to drive two hours round trip while sick. 

Through it all Heather has continued to work as much as possible, but just got the upsetting news that her freelance job is drastically scaling back on assignments. The lost wages come at the worst possible time as she incurs more medical costs.

Any donation, big or small could help lighten the financial burden during this already stressful time. Funds will go to the following expenses:

Hospital housing at $40 per night (where Heather will stay for the six weeks of radiation)
