For more than 26 years, my life’s purpose has been crystal clear:

To prevent sudden cardiac death through early detection and education.

I’ve dedicated everything to building Heartfelt, a nonprofit I founded to make sure no child, parent, athlete, or loved one dies from a potentially detectable — and often preventable — heart condition.

Thirteen years ago, while continuing the work I’d been doing to save others, it suddenly became the fight to save myself. I needed emergency open-heart surgery to save my own life. It was terrifying, humbling, and life-altering — but it was also clarifying.

It reminded me just how fragile life is — and how vital this mission has always been.

I survived. And I’ve spent the last 13 bonus years using this second chance to deepen my commitment, expand our reach, and save even more lives.

Why I’m Asking for Help Now

After decades of service, Heartfelt urgently needs financial support to continue our lifesaving work. We’re preparing for a major season of screenings, but several critical machines are failing or outdated.

We need new screening equipment — including EKG and Echocardiogram machines — as well as funds to cover operating expenses that keep our programs running smoothly.

And every life saved honors not only my survival — but the memory of those we’ve lost.
