Thorny went missing on Thursday at 3pm. Unfortunately, emergency personnel left a gate open at her home, and Vickie's one year old Miniature Australian Shepherd Thorny escaped. He spent a day and a half at Holy Rood Cemetery, effectively eluding all search efforts. Vickie, along with friends and neighbors searched for Thorny tirelessly. He was eventually found Saturday afternoon after 2 days missing. Vickie noticed a bleeding wound on his abdomen and took him to the Shoreline Animal Hospital. Thorny was found to be severely dehydrated, lacerations on his head, neck and back, with the worst wound on his abdomen. He most likely was attacked by a coyote but fought valiantly to make his way home! He is currently on IV fluids and receiving wound care. A surgical evaluation of his wound will take place early this week. The treatment down payment was $6,800, which included the IV fluids, overnight stays, and wound care. The surgery will be an additional cost. Please consider a contribution to help Vickie get her beloved Thorny the care he needs. We understand there a lot of struggles and challenges going on right now, please don't feel obligated to donate. Thank you for your support and kindness, know you are appreciated!
