Help Rufus Walk Again – From the Streets to a Second Chance
A few days ago, we found an injured, malnourished dog wandering alone along the side of the road — thin, limping, and clearly in pain. His fur was dirty, his body frail, and he looked like he had completely given up. We later named him Rufus.
We believe Rufus may have been hit by a car and left to fend for himself. He’s just a baby — probably no more than 1 or 2 years old — yet already has endured more than any dog ever should. Despite everything, Rufus has remained gentle and calm — with eyes that speak to how much he’s been through.
But now Rufus needs more help than we can give on our own.
We brought Rufus to the vet the day after we found him for a full exam, including bloodwork and X-rays. Even in pain, he was the sweetest boy — calm, gentle, and trusting with everyone he met.
The vet confirmed that Rufus was covered in fleas, had no microchip, and was at least 15 pounds underweight from prolonged neglect. Most concerningly, he has a dislocated knee that never healed properly. The injury has caused severe tissue damage and joint instability, which is why he walks with a painful limp.
To give Rufus a real chance at walking again and living without chronic pain, the vet recommends surgery to remove the damaged tissue, realign the joint, and allow the knee to heal correctly.

Our Goal: $5,000 for Rufus’s Recovery
His initial vet visit alone cost $1,637, and that’s just the beginning.
How You Can Help
Rufus didn’t ask for this life. He didn’t ask to be abandoned or hurt. But now that he’s been found, we’re determined to fight for him — and we hope you will too.
If you can donate, no matter how small, it will go directly toward helping Rufus heal and walk again. If you’re unable to give right now, please share his story. The more people who see Rufus, the closer we get to his recovery.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of Rufus’s journey from the streets to safety. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
