Alone in my car, driving to the grocery store last Sunday night, I said, "and I'm not rescuing anymore animals. I have 3 dogs and a chicken." Monday morning driving 55mph on Ranch Road 12 , I pass over what i think is a rag in the middle of the lane. As I got closer I see it scuttle across the highway and crouch up against the concrete barrier. How did this kitten make it on top of a bridge? Everyone was in their cars racing to work. Zoom, zoom. I couldnt slam on my brakes so I turned around and finally saw her on the second round. Due to her lack of size she was so difficult to spot. I turned on my hazards and pulled as close as I could to the concrete barrier, got out of my car and tried to grab her, while being scared she would run into traffic or someone would plow into us. She was very scared and ran from me. I could see blood dripping from her mouth. Luckily a very handsome, gentleman saw us, and stopped his truck. He was able to grab her and handed her to me. The animal shelter was closed. I took her to the vet. Her injuries, a broken jaw, the skin on her chin, ungloved from the bone, and a right orbital fracture, indicated she had been thrown from a vehicle onto the highway. She had surgery that day to mend her broken jaw and attach the skin on her chin back to her bone. I picked her up from the vet today and she is doing well and expected to make a full recovery. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated. I'll be rescuing more babas in my future;)
