To my friends and family,
This kind of request is new to me and so is this situation. On August 14th, I underwent a robotic open heart mitral valve replacement. The surgery went well Eventhough my right lung was dropped and I had to receive two pints of blood. The plan was to return to work September 15. However, a week after surgery I had to have over 80 ccs removed from around my right lung which set me back a week. I then contracted the flu. I was then set back another week. Preparing to go back to work, while doing payroll in the hospital on the way to get a CT scan, I find out I have a pleural effusion and my traponin levels were over 180. My arm was in such pain my doctor had to send me to the hospital where I was admitted. The whole time I was keeping in touch with my boss but received no response.
The recuperation period had then become trying as I was still working from home while recuperating. It was becoming painfully expensive. On September 30 I went to the office to receive my pay. The tension could be cut with a knife. I was told that my position as practice manager was over as all my appointments, hours out were not covered as my time was not to roll over and was under investigation. I would not receive any final pay.
For years, as I started at $14 per hour as a medical assistant/ asst practice manager, I requested a raise. I receive two where my final pay as practice manager was $18 hr. I expressed that I could not maintain my household on this pay but to no avail, I received no raise. I was not on salary, which I asked for as the previous practice manager was receiving salary among other pay incentives that I did not receive when I replaced her. I did clean the office floor a $200 a month incentive. I also periodically received bonuses for additional work outside my normal duties. However, this did not include the personal duties that I performed.
That day I was asked to leave, I was broken. I was his right hand for 8 years. I performed a laundry list of duties for him that was not in my job description with no pay. I applied for disability, my short term disability had run out due to my previous carpal tunnel surgery May 2. I have applied for everything from the state but no word yet. I have applied to over 50 jobs in a week and now, from a hospital bed with colitis, I am requesting with pain, that I receive some assistance. I am trying to prevent from losing everything as I am down to nothing.
I have raised 7 children, and never asked for help even when going through a trying divorce but now I must as the walls are caving in. I admit I was a bit ill prepared for this but who could be prepared for this? So, with a heavy heart I am asking for help. Any help will be appreciated. I know I will have to fight against me receiving unemployment along with trying to find employment, which is hard from this hospital bed, but I’m doing it. I’m a fighter.

Thank you for your consideration, help and prayers.

Sincerely,
Hawa
