My name is Harper and I am currently planning a move to Seattle! March of 2024 I lost my job and for a variety of reasons moved to Eastern Pennsylvania to start my life anew. While my time here in PA has been valuable and an important step, unfortunately both the job market here and my current financial and housing situation means it is time for me to pivot.
Thanks to a generous offer from friends in Seattle, I have exactly what I need to finish re-establishing myself, finally secure work, and rebuild my life and safety nets. However, making a move cross country like this has some additional short term costs. That's why this Gofundme is here: to help me offset the short term costs of the move due to my currently very tight financials and budget.
For my first goal I am looking for help offsetting the cost and time moving in April by covering my hotel costs, gas, food, mailing of some items in advance, and normal monthly bills for April (health insurance, car lease, storage pod rental).
The total for this goal will be $4500.
My first stretch goal will be to cover the costs of shipping my storage pod of my remaining items across the US to Seattle. That adds another $3000 and brings us to $7500.
My last stretch goal brings us to $10000 and basically covers an extra month worth of bills and miscellaneous costs to help give me extra cushion to get established in Seattle.
I will be actively posting photos of my trip to everyone as I go. My move will last over two weeks from March 26th to April 14th. With a trip down the coast to see family and my storage pod, then 3000 miles across the country to Seattle.
Below is my approximate cost breakdown for the entire move for full transparency. Thank you for any help you can provide to a woman doing her best in a tough situation to rebuild her life again.
Moving costs
- Shipping boxes - $180 (5 boxes @ $36 a box ups)
- Gas - $330 (3100 miles with tank refill every 300 miles at $30 a tank)
- Hotel costs - $1600 ($150-$250 a night depending on location. 8 nights maximum)
- Food costs - $500 ($60-$70 a day for 8 days given no grocery store cooking options)
- Health Insurance - $900 (Month of April)
- Car lease -$400 (Month of April)
- POD storage $380 (Month of April)
- POD storage shipping cost - ~$3000 (Charleston -> Seattle)
