Dear friends and family,
A couple weeks ago, Hurricane Melissa tore through the Caribbean, destroying the growing spaces that many rural Haitian families depend on for survival. In a single night, they lost their gardens and their meager supply of food. These communities live far beyond the reach of large aid organizations. No one will come to help in these rural areas, except those who choose to care.
Right now, their most urgent need is food.
For many, the cupboards are already empty. Parents are skipping meals so children can eat. Grandparents are sitting quietly, trying not to show their hunger. And yet, the spirit of these communities remains unbroken. They are still attending farming classes, learning preservation techniques for the upcoming harvest of breadfruit, and preparing to plant gardens again when the land recovers. They have hope for a more resilient future.
For $200, we can feed an entire family of 10 — grandparents, parents, and children — for six weeks. These food kits include beans, rice, sardines, milk, and oil.
If 1,800 people can give $200, every family will eat daily, and no child will go to bed hungry. This requires nothing of your time and does not prevent you from participating in your daily activities.
Our goal is to hand-deliver food kits on every Tuesday throughout the month of December. Money received by the end of each Wednesday, will be what is delivered the following Tuesday.
If you feel inspired and have enough to share, please join us in helping these families get back on their feet.

To Build A Village (in Haiti)
To Build A Village Inc. is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) organization that partners with local leaders to build a foundation of self-reliance and community strength in rural Haitian communities. We are inspired every day by the high school students and skill-building teachers who now see themselves as agents of change. Our guiding belief is that when people become wise stewards of their land, they secure a stronger future for their families and their entire community.
