Hai Davai is finished! Now we need your help to share it with the world.
When we launched this campaign, we were just beginning. Today, Hai Davai is a completed short film shot in the Moldovan countryside, graded, mixed in 5.1 surround sound, and ready for the world.
The film tells the story of Nina, a young Moldovan woman whose attempt to emigrate is stopped, quite literally, by a black cat and her grandmother's superstition. What begins as a petty standoff spirals into an absurdist village wide standstill that forces her to confront everything she is leaving behind.
Nearly 50% of Moldova's population has emigrated since 1991. This film is our love letter to everyone who has ever had to leave home, and to everyone who had to stay behind.
Where we are now:
Hai Davai has been submitted to over 20 festivals worldwide, with many more submissions planned. We are actively pursuing an Oscar qualifying festival run.
