About Griffin: Griffin turned 7 last month and he is an incredibly brave and resilient young boy. He has overcome obstacles his entire life and has stayed the happiest of kids the entire time. He loves cuddling with his family, watching as many dog videos as he can, and sword fighting with his dad. He loves to watch his sisters play sports and cuddle with his mom. His new adventure is tumbling on the bed or giggling at the neighbor’s dog through the open window.

Upcoming Surgery: This summer, Griffin will be heading back to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital on Stanford University in California for his third heart surgery. The surgeons will be working on his PAs (pulmonary arteries, which are his MAPCAS (Major Aortopulmonary Collateral Arteries) in his heart. This is a type of congenital heart defect where blood vessels from the aorta (body’s main artery) bypass the underdeveloped or absent pulmonary arteries to supply the lungs. These collateral arteries form as the body attempts to compensate for the lack of normal pulmonary artery function. During this surgery, the doctors will ensure his heart arteries are open and address any stenosis and increase the size of his conduit.

This surgery is vital and lifesaving for Griffin’s heart health, helping him continue to grow and thrive. Griffin is expected to be in California for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks, depending on his recovery.
