My name is Ashleigh Rose. I’m a mom of 3. My oldest, Grayson, is my sweet baby. He is going to be 8 years old on October 18th. He is special needs and has some medical issues! In the middle of July , my son went in for surgery to help correct his mobility-related problems. Unfortunately, he had some complications and wound up having 3 surgical procedures. He was not tolerating the recovery well and had to be sedated multiple times until we found the correct medication to help him recover with no self-harm behaviors. Because of this, I missed 3 weeks of work and do not have vacation or paid leave. As a one-income household, things are tight normally, but now, taking into consideration not having pay for almost an entire month, I am struggling and having a hard time, which is affecting me in such a deep way.

Grayson's autism affects his nutrition, and after surgery, it has gotten worse where he is refusing to eat anything. We were prescribed Ensure Clear Apple Juice, which is $30 for a 6-pack, and he drinks a minimum of 3 a day. It is not covered under his insurance. Grayson will not drink any meal replacements or protein shakes, only the clear apple juice. This is very hard to cover now as well.
