Steven Joseph “Chum” Howes, age 33, has peacefully passed away at home, on November 7, 2024. Born in Manistee, Michigan, on October 17, 1991, to the proud parents of mother, Tammie Fraly Saunders and father, Steven Edwards Howes.
Stevie Joe spent his time loving and spoiling his “kids” Korbyn, Kolesyn and Kynnlie, listening to gangster rap and driving fast in uncle's car. He successfully, and proudly, completed two years, clean and sober, through ATS in Traverse City. Throughout his lifetime, in which we were gratefully blessed with many more years than expected, he gained a very large support group filled with friends and family and in his words “he met some great people that will forever hold high regards no matter how separated our lifestyles make us.” Stevie Joe loved to spend his time at the Fraly Flatts with his family, participating in the annual Bowers Canoe trip and was “down” for any road trip, ONLY if he was driving and you had the gas money. He enjoyed bonfires, going mushroom hunting with his Auntie and fishing with his sister and kids. Stevie Joe would give you the shirt off his back, slip you a compliment to brighten your day and if your eyes were beautiful, he made sure that you and everyone in the room knew it. He loved unconditionally, with his whole heart, and was changing the world one smile at a time, just like his momma did.
Stevie Joe is survived by: his sister, Kayla “Kayler” Fraly-Howes; nieces and nephews, Devan Lee, Korbyn Daniel, Kolesyn Wayne, and Kynnlie Ann; fathers, Steven E. Howes and Troy Saunders; his love and companion, Abigail Frances and their fur children, Maclin James and Millie Mae Howes; step sisters; Allie, Tiffany and Rose Saunders; half-brother, Justin Forward; step brother, J.B Forward; his grandparents; Timothy (Irene) Fraly, Sr, Roland and Hope Howes and Gordon Wells; his aunts and uncles; Terri (Todd) Rutowski, Tanya Fraly, and Melanie Howes; cousins, Paige (Cody) Purgiel, Tayler (Sarah) Fraly, Timothy (Laura) Fraly, Shelby (Andrew) Beldo, Megan (Andy) Poulisse, Emily Bowers and Austin Bowers; his heart chosen family; Parents Jason (Beverly) Forward, siblings; Devin, Dustin, Jordan and Jenae; along with numerous more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones.
Stevie Joe was preceded in death by: his mother; Tammie Fraly Saunders; grandmothers, Belinda “Blink” Fraly, Jeanette Fraly and Helen Wells; his Uncle, Timothy Fraly Jr; and His fur sons, Bear and Gus Howes. He will be forever loved and missed by too many in this life time.
