Hey, it’s Holly. My dad Frank Hudson went into emergency surgery on Christmas Day, 12/25/22 for severe pain in his abdomen. It turned out to be a life threatening infection and went septic. The cause is still unclear and the doctor said he has never seen anything like this. After surgery, he was left open with a wound vac on his belly for two days until the doctor could get back in, to clean the rest of the infection. After the second surgery dad was left with a temporary colostomy bag, a drain and a cut from his sternum to almost his pubic bone. Throughout dads recovery there has been rising concerns as to, liquid in his lungs, and if the infection has gotten into his pelvic bone. The discharge date is still unclear, but when he goes home he will be on IV antibiotics, skilled wound care, and many disadvantages that come with all. He will also need another surgery in two months. As he spends several days/weeks in the hospital, receiving more treatment and testing the medical bills rise beyond belief as well as the after care needed. He was supposed to help move me into my college dorm this weekend for my second semester, and watch/help me continue to follow my dreams.
