Here is Enoch’s Biography and Story of Hope:
Enoch was born on September 26, 2008, in New York. He is the youngest of four children, with one sister and two brothers. Sadly, both his sister and one of his brothers were diagnosed with sickle cell anemia. Shortly after his birth, Enoch was also diagnosed with the same condition, beginning his lifelong journey with this illness.
His father, a medical doctor, immigrated from Africa to give his children better access to education and health care. Shortly after settling in the United States, Enoch was born. Seeking better opportunities, the family later relocated to North Dakota, where Enoch’s mother worked to support the household while his father prepared for the USMLE medical licensing exams. Unfortunately, the financial strain made it impossible for him to afford life insurance.
Just two and a half years after their move, tragedy struck when Enoch’s father was diagnosed with liver cancer and given three months to live. His passing left a lasting void in the family.
Two years later, Enoch faced a new challenge — doctors discovered a defect in his coronary artery that required open-heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Since then, he has been in and out of hospitals, missing school frequently due to sickle cell complications.
Despite these hardships, Enoch continues to show incredible determination. Recently, the team at Children’s Wisconsin offered him a groundbreaking opportunity: a gene therapy treatment that could drastically improve his quality of life. However, before the procedure can take place, the family must raise $45,000 to cover the co-pay.
This financial goal is a tremendous challenge for Enoch’s mother, who continues to manage medical bills while providing for the family. Yet, she remains hopeful that with support and generosity from others, Enoch can receive this life-changing treatment.
Enoch dreams of one day becoming a dentist so he can help others smile again — a dream that this therapy could help make possible. Your compassionate support can bring him one step closer to that future.
Thank you for taking the time to read Enoch’s story and for any help you can provide.
With gratitude,
Celestine (Enoch’s Mother)
