Hi friends! My name is Taylor and I own Happy Tails Animal Rescue in Terre Haute IN. I was recently driving to Walmart and saw a man standing outside his truck with animal cages so I stopped to talk to him. His name is Robert and he’s been homeless for about a month. He said he has $600 saved but needs $2000 to get into an apartment. His truck is currently brown down and he’s been living in it without air for a month with 4 cats and 1 dog. All animals appear well fed and cared for and he said he would not surrender the animals. He has had them for years and he said this is just a temporary bump in the road. We had his truck towed to a mechanic and got him a motel with his animals for a week. Unfortunately the mechanic said the truck cannot be fixed because the engine is done. At this point we are trying to raise money for a cheap truck/SUV that him and his animals can get around comfortably in with air conditioning. He really needs wheels to get around to get housing, groceries, etc and we cannot maintain paying for a motel stay. I know this is a lot to ask and I am aware that he probably made decisions in life that got him here but I still have empathy and compassion for people and their animals they don’t want to leave behind.
