Hello, my name is Germaine Sutton. My medical journey started in the year of 2023 when I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Different emotions were what I was going through after being told. I didn't know if I was coming or going. In the year of 2023, through prayer, strength, and talking with my family, I decided to go with the eight-hour operation to save my life. After the surgery, I was in the hospital for nearly 13 days, with tubes coming from everywhere, but I knew the fight to live was on for real.

Just when I thought it was over, I was released from the hospital to finish recovering at home. I stopped eating and drinking, then I had to go back to the hospital to be placed on a feeding tube to get nutrients and be taken care of by my care team. After being in the hospital for another ten days or more, I finally came home to all my immediate family that stayed with me for over a month to care for me.

Just when I thought it was all over, news flash, I had my first stroke in the year of 2024. I was then in the hospital for about a week. My doctor sent me to physical therapy for about a week or so. I went home to recover, and I was back on my feet thanks to everyone that had me in their prayers.

Lastly, I had just recently another stroke in October of 2025, which was much more serious than the last one. This time it’s different. My sister kept telling me, "Germaine, you look tired. You need to get to the doctors," and I told her I would make an appointment later. Later came soon. I was at the doctor's appointment when they sent an ambulance for me to go to Novant Hospital. While there, I was in the hospital for approximately three weeks, not knowing when I was going home. Then the insurance was a factor because it would not cover my expenses for the rehab that I had to go to for continued recovery. My paralysis showed slurred speech and right-side weakness. Through the prayers of everyone and well-wishers, I am on the mend again. I am working hard. I am very grateful and thankful for how God has blessed me.

I am fundraising to cover my medical expenses and rehabilitation costs that my insurance will not cover.
