A young man recently reached out to me on Facebook seeking help after winning the U.S. Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to change his life and lift his family out of poverty.

He’s not someone I personally know, so I wanted to be sure his story was genuine. I asked my brother in Liberia to connect with him in person and do a background check. I also reviewed his details myself and confirmed directly on the official U.S. DV Lottery site that he is indeed legitimate.

Unfortunately, he’s running out of time and doesn’t have the financial means to cover the required medical exams, application fees, and sponsorship costs.
