Hi friends,
Long story still kind of long: last month, Frida had her first surgery to get two lumps removed. One of them did end up containing cancer cells, and she will require another surgery to make sure all of it was removed.
While she was healing from this surgery, she suffered a(nother) cruciate tear in her knee, now leaving her unstable and unable to properly move about. I've been carrying her up the stairs and keeping her medicated for pain and swelling. She suffered a tear in her other knee 2 years ago, and we were advised that it would be okay not to operate on it, considering she lives a simple life here in Chicago. Unfortunately, her new injury is more serious, and her vet said it will significantly negatively affect her quality of life if left untreated.
As a first option, we are considering Tighrope CCL Repair. We have a consultation on June 3rd. The estimate for this operation is $5,900.
FAQ: Yes, Frida has insurance, but they won't cover anything due to it (cruciate tear) being a pre-existing condition. They also will not cover the lump/cancer cell removals as the surgeries are considered "cosmetic" and "optional." (???, I know.)
All this being said, I will continue to update this information as I receive it, but for now, we are planning a Darty Sunday, June 1st, from 2 to 6 p.m. at AJ Hudson's. I can't thank our friends, family, and community enough for the love and support we receive day in and day out-- I am forever grateful <3
