On Thursday, Nov. 6th, Freya was hit by a car at the intersection of Cayuga and Broadway. Terrified and traumatized, she sprinted away from the scene as fast as she could. I tried my hardest to catch her to no avail and searched for her all night with the help of a few friends and volunteers. While passing out flyers the next morning, a friend of mine messaged saying she was found.

Animal Control picked her up after she was found hiding at the harbor.

Now we begin the journey of getting her healthy. From being hit by the car, she has sustained some fairly serious injuries, mostly road rash, some of which are pretty deep (to the bone). She is going to need continued daily care and sedated bandage changes for 7-14 days. Then, once her wounds are healed, the vet is suggesting surgery for her left hind leg. She currently has a splint on it. Her leg is not broken, but there has been some ligament damage as well as some shaving of the bone due to being dragged across the ground. The surgery they are suggesting in the future would entail putting pins/screws in the bone and placing an external bar on the outside of the leg to fix it in place.

At this point, the final cost of her care has not been determined. However, I do know her daily bandage changes for the 7-14 days are roughly $311.75. Then there's the second surgery (she has already had one) for her hind leg, of which I have not been given a quote yet.

My goal in asking for your help is to be able to provide the best care possible to get her healthy again. She is a precious little angel and does not deserve to be suffering and in pain in the way that she is. I would like to be able to take care of this myself; however, with the amount I've already paid, the mounting daily costs, the costs for her future surgery, and any unforeseen costs, I have come to the realization that I need help.
