Hello, my name is Jose, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit.
My partner, Balerin, is originally from Guatemala. She was recently detained in Oakland and has now been transferred to the Broward Transitional Center in Miami. This has turned our lives upside down.
Just two months ago, we welcomed our baby into the world. Now I find myself alone—also an immigrant—caring for our newborn while trying to stay afloat emotionally and financially. It's been incredibly hard to manage everything on my own.
We’re doing everything we can to fight for Balerin’s release and to reunite our family. But the legal fees are overwhelming. We urgently need support to cover the cost of an immigration attorney who can help us navigate this difficult and heartbreaking process, and hopefully get her released on bond.
If you have the ability to help, even a small amount would make a huge difference. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support during this unimaginable time. We are just trying to be together again—for our baby, and for our future.
With gratitude,
Jose
