Hello. My name is Janie. Thank you for you interest in my dog.’s GoFundMe story.
Above is a recent photo of my amazing 14-year old dog named Freckles. He got his name appropriately because when a puppy, he had tons of reddish freckles all over his face and front legs. His breed is a hybrid called Bocker; 1/2 white Boxer and 1/2 Party Cocker Spaniel. The beautiful freckles are from the Spaniel of course. The combination of both breeds is definitely obvious in his energy, intelligence, keen sensitivites and amazing sweet temperament.
CAUSE: The reason for this Go Fund Me campaign is because Freckles has had a benign cyst on his snout for months that continues to grow. It bothers him a lot now, and bleeds a lot when he rubs his paw against it. Poor thing has to wear a cone to leave it alone, even sleeping because it bleeds. The cyst needs to be removed most importantly now before it becomes cancerous.
Freckles has been and still is a trained ADA Service Dog that has helped with my poor mobility from an accident in 2019, as well as my Medic Alert dog.
Since I retired, Freckles goes everywhere with me; “Off and On Duty.” From all the attention he gets, you would think he is a “Celebrity.” He is MY Celebrity for sure, and melts everyone's heart. His coat is as soft as cashmere. People always want to pet hm, then comment how soft his fur is.
Freckles also gets plenty of time “just being a dog “ taking long walks, going to parks to watch squirrels, and rabbits plus stalking birds and pesky moles/gofers one slow step at a time, like a spaniel hunter. He still socializes at dog parks with other two and four legged friends at least 3 days a week.
The most premium reward I can give him is time to stand like a statue watching the Guinea Pigs at PetSmart for 20-30 minutes, which also gives me pleasure watching him. I can see the mental energy he spends! Good thing is, he never gets up too close or try to get to them. When time is up, he is exhausted from all the mental energy, and ready to go home for a drink and long nap.
As a 14- year old senior dog, Freckles is still generally healthy, not over-weight, energetic and playful, despite:
- arthritis, losing his hearing, losing eyesight from cataracts, along with the bothersome large cyst on his snout (within licking distance)
- Once the cyst is removed I’m certain he will feel more comfortable, and happier. I know he has a few more good years ahead of him. Thats what I want that for him and for “us.”
DONATIONS: Your kind and generous donation of any amount to this GoFundMe Surgery Campaign for Freckles would be greatly appreciated. When the cyst was smaller just a month ago, the Vet said it will cost somewhere between $1200-$1500 including sedation. Now that the cyst is larger, it may require more.
As a senior on a low fixed income, I have not been able to cover the surgery cost on my own. Healthy food and naturopath supplements have been important to his health, which do I manage. Plus his entire life, since adopting him over 12 years ago, he has always been on a veterinarian Preventive Care program to keep him healthy. Unfortunately, surgery is not included.
DONATIONS: Together with your generous GoFundMe Donations, we can get the surgery done that Freckles needs for a better, quality of life in his senior years. Let’s do this! Thank you.
