The last two years have been extremely rough on Frank and my mom since he had his first knee replacement. Many infections and several more surgeries plagued Frank. Then my mother fell and broke a vertebra. Unfortunately, not all of their medical bills have been paid for by insurance. Fast forward to Tuesday. Frank and Jolene made the difficult decision to amputate his leg above the knee. They did not make this decision lightly, but they did it to hopefully end the constant infections and problems arising from that leg. We are all hoping that by them making this decision, Frank will soon hopefully be able to get back to camping, fishing, and all the other things that they love to do.
Many people have asked how they can help Frank and Jolene navigate through the never-ending medical bills and all the things not covered by insurance. Many things are needed to help Frank until they are able to fit him with a prosthetic leg and joint. They might have to add a ramp to their house; not totally sure yet, but that will also be an added expense if needed. The family is willing to do the work to cut down on the expense if it is needed, but lumber is still pretty expensive.
Any help is appreciated.
