For 9+ weeks Sophia has had a mysterious illness causing intermittent but severe abdominal pain that her local doctors & specialists just cannot find the source of, nor any healing solutions for her. She has missed countless days of school where she is loved by her classmates and adored by her teacher. So, She is scheduled to visit the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN on April 19, 2022.
The Mayo Clinic is NOT in our insurance network anymore, so our initial out-of-pocket out-of-network expenses will begin at $11,000. As you can see, Sophia is not in school again today and she is still in a great deal of pain although she says the pain is "just a 4" right now on a scale of 10. The acute pain is located at the center of her belly area. Right now it is more like a dull pain, at the moment of this writing. She is being brave and patient and courageous while she suffers. Please pray now for this mysterious ailment to be healed divinely or properly diagnosed and treated through the doctors we are taking her to see. When I spoke with Sophia Thursday, April 7, she told me that she had “a rough night last night but that I am feeling much better this morning and I am going to try and play with my cousins today.”
When I spoke with Sophia today, April 9, She said, “I had a rough couple of days & nights this week, but I am feeling much better today.” That’s MY girl! Always optimistic. They are driving home at the moment and her cat “Nutsy” got car sick and hacked up a furball. Hahaha God has a sense of humor that I must appreciate still.

Several people have asked how I am honestly doing with all that Sophia is going through. To be honest, your prayers have encouraged me, inspired me, and sustained me. I am well. I have no serious ailments other than the aches and pains of turning 53 next week and not having kept up with proper exercise over the past 2 decades since separating from the Army. Emotionally, I’ve lost some close friends recently who passed away. But they all went to heaven without a doubt, so I am grieving as one who has hope in Jesus. But more so it is just hard to be apart from my daughter while I feel she needs her real daddy.
Sophia is sick with a mysterious ailment for over 9 weeks causing a great deal of pain in her abdomen. We have ruled out a great number of possible causes and still have no solutions. Since her local doctors have not been able to figure it out, we have an appointment with the Mayo Clinic — Rochester, MN for April 19th.

Sophia update 4/3/22:
Grace & Peace to you, my Facebook Friends & Village. It’s been a while since I updated many of you: Although Sophia has been in Florida with her maternal extended family this past week, she had not been enjoying the “vacation” and normal happy & carefree life of a 10-yo girl. I spoke with her yesterday (Saturday) and she is still in a great deal of intermittent pain in the center of her abdomen region around her belly button as she describes it. She was too sick to spend more than a few minutes talking to me which made me very sad. Although we have an appointment with the Mayo Clinic—Rochester, MN for April 19th, her mother suggested that I NOT go for this first appointment until something invasive has to be performed. She would rather I visit the weekend after to perhaps give her and her husband a few days break from the feelings of helplessness and despair they experience daily. I found a very inexpensive flight & have reward points for the hotel Sophia has enjoyed swimming in the past when I visit. I could NOT get tickets to the Great Wolf Lodge next door. Sophia has frequently begged me to take her there.
They are sold out unless I get a room there. But that is cost-prohibitive right now, and she may not enjoy it as much anyway. Please pray for divine miraculous healing and/or for the doctors at Mayo Clinic to find the source and cure of this pain my baby is suffering. Thank you, and as always…. I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership from the first day until now.
