Friends and family - many of you may not yet know, but our beloved Ethan has been in the fight of his life these past couple of weeks.

Twelve days ago, he was admitted to the hospital with what first seemed like a severe respiratory infection. His condition worsened rapidly, leading to ICU care, intubation, and, ultimately, a transfer to UW Medical Center for specialized treatment. As of yesterday, Ethan has been placed on ECMO

(extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) — a life-saving machine that gives his lungs a chance to rest and heal while continuing to oxygenate his body.

Doctors are doing everything they can, and he is surrounded by a phenomenal care team.

They suspect this may be a rare and severe reaction possibly triggered by a medication (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/04/ magazine/lung-illness-tmp-smx.html) - we're still navigating a lot of unknowns.

We ask for your continued prayers, good thoughts, and love as our boy fights to come back home to us.
