Hello, my name is Esmeralda Figueroa, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read and share my story.

On October 8th, my life changed in an instant. I was driving home from college when another driver hit me, T-boning my car. The impact left me with a broken rib that punctured my lung, along with a fractured vertebrae, broken teeth, nerve damage, and countless scrapes and bruises. I spent a week in the hospital fighting to save my lung and beginning the long journey of recovery.

My car was completely totaled, and most of my belongings were destroyed—including my laptop, which I depended on for my school work. The medical bills have now climbed to over $70,000, and the at-fault driver only had minimum insurance coverage. I’m still healing physically and emotionally, while trying to figure out how to move forward without a car, facing debt, and worrying about how to continue my education.

Any donation will help me get back on my feet. I’m hoping to buy a reliable car so I can return to school and finish my degree. Your generosity will also help cover the cost of a new laptop, ongoing doctor visits, therapy, dental work, and other treatments I need to fully recover.
