Help My Mom Heal After Her Kidney Transplant
Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Davie, and I’m reaching out with deep gratitude and hope on behalf of my mom, Erika Perez. She recently underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, a procedure we have prayed and waited 9 difficult years for. While we are incredibly thankful for the success of the surgery, we are now facing a new challenge—managing the unexpected costs that come with her long road to recovery.
A New Lease on Life—But a Price We Can’t Shoulder Alone
As many families who’ve faced organ transplants know, the procedure is only the beginning. The weeks and months that follow involve intensive aftercare, frequent follow-up appointments, lifelong medications, and the risk of complications that require constant monitoring. These costs have quickly added up—far beyond what we were prepared for—even with insurance.
Here’s how your support will help:
-Post-operative medications (anti-rejection drugs are essential and incredibly expensive)
-Frequent travel to and from medical appointments (sometimes several times a week)
-Temporary housing during recovery (as her doctors require her to stay near the hospital)
-Loss of income (my mom and our family members have missed work to care for her)
-Unexpected medical expenses not covered by insurance
Why We’re Asking for Help
My mom is the heart of our family—a giver, a listener, and someone who has always put others before herself. She never asks for help, but now she truly needs it. She has fought so hard to get to this point, and we are committed to giving her the best chance at a full recovery. But we can’t do it alone.
We’ve set a goal of $2000 to help cover these critical recovery-related expenses. Every dollar, every share, every kind message brings us one step closer to getting her back on her feet and back to living the life she deserves—free from the pain and uncertainty .
