Hello! I'm Eric. I am currently the caretaker for my mother, who ironically was diagnosed and treated for colon cancer 3 years ago. Luckily, she has remained in remission.
In April of this year, 2024, during a routine colonoscopy, it was discovered I too have colon cancer. I had surgery to remove the tumor, along with 12 attached lymph nodes, and 10 inches of surrounding colon, including my ileocecal valve to which the tumor was attached.
I am currently undergoing chemotherapy for the remaining cancer cells. 7 out of 12 of my lymph nodes were positive for cancer, as well as 3 additional cell deposits in the colon. Basically showing my cancer as aggressive, but, thank God, only stage 3 so far.
I have had numerous complications and somewhat serious side effects along the way, and I have been out of work for 5 months now. My only source of income during this time has been my short-term disability, which only pays 60% of my usual pay. Needless to say, the financial struggles have been building.
Today I'll actually be starting my final 4 cycles of chemo, now with pills.
These funds will be used solely for the bills incurred during this journey for myself and possibly even my mother who I care for, and is a colon cancer survivor herself. (3 yrs. Remission)
