Hey everybody, in case you don’t know me, I’m Eric Basile, a local standup comedian/wannabe writer/general well-meaning human being in Buffalo, NY. My favorite things include listening to music, watching horror films and obscure sketch comedies. And I need some help.

The past two years have been pretty tough on me health-wise, and this month it all kind of came to a head. After getting surgery for a fractured elbow in July, I was also diagnosed with diabetes. Managing beetus has been pretty tough so far, and earlier this month I found myself in the ER and admitted to the hospital for 6 days due to constant vomiting, dehydration, high blood sugar etc.

It was a scary ordeal, the doctor told me if I had waited any longer, my HEART WOULD HAVE STOPPED. Hearing that was utterly mortifying.

The process of getting back on my feet is still ongoing and has not been easy, especially as someone who lives alone in a one bedroom apartment. I have also missed a lot of work at my work-at-home job. I’ve used up all my vacation and sick time, which I don’t think will be replenished until summer. Also I am currently at the risk of being two months behind on my rent. Due to my illnesses, working overtime hours has not been easy, even for a work at home job, the act of sitting up at a desk without feeling nauseous has been a very touch and go. And obviously comedy has been put on the backburner for now. That truly hurts.

I’m not exactly sure how much money I need. The elbow surgery bill is $2900, I have yet to receive a bill for my hospital stay, and two months of rent is $2230. If nothing else, I just wanna get 2 or more months ahead of rent and put a good dent in these bills. And keep seeing my doctor so I can eventually get back to work.

Please help in any way you can. I understand if you cannot contribute money. If not, please share this gofundme and be super obnoxious and pushy about it. Treat it like it’s your first DJ night and you really need a certain amount of people to show for it to be worthwhile.
