Asking for help is not easy for me. But the last thing I was expecting was a cancer diagnosis, so here I am. Right now, I am only asking for help with things my insurance will not cover. As I go through radiation and chemo, it is going to become difficult to eat and/or keep food down. I need to load up on protein shakes and other such consumables to sustain me, so I can avoid having to have a feeding tube. Sadly, the protein products are not cheap, and my income will not allow for such a continual indulgence for a prolonged period.
I realize my goal figure may seem extravagant, but I have just started on this cancer-fighting journey, and I do not exactly know how long this will go on, and I am worried that my health insurance will be maxed out before we are through. As it stands right now, I am already in the hole to the tune of several thousand dollars, just to pay my share for the radiation treatments(which haven't even started yet!), after insurance. So, I expect this challenge to become greater as things progress. Optimistically, I would like to believe that I will respond well enough to treatment to not have to take time off from my employment, and that I will be able to be my own transportation to/from treatments, but only time will tell if those issues will increase the financial burden. However, my immediate priority is to make sure that I am able to have the sustenance I will need so that I can get through this ordeal with as little difficulty - and worry - as possible. I am expected to lose up to thirty pounds in pretty short order, and eating and swallowing are projected to become difficult. And in theory, protein shakes are supposed to be "easier to swallow", lol.
Thank you for stopping by. Please know that once I get through this, I will find a way to pay this forward.
