Friends and acquaintances, thanks firstly for reading this and caring for others’ needs! I am grateful for anyone who gives to any cause as we are all connected.
My purpose for this Go Fund Me is not exciting nor something I’m proud to announce, however I’ve been working hard and finally feel comfortable sharing my recent experiences and asking for help.
I currently reside in Knoxville TN, because many of my elder family members have migrated here after the cost of living in middle TN skyrocketed. Of course with plenty of students in town, I figured rentals would be plentiful and affordable. I wasn’t completely wrong, but I have had a
tricky go of it, bouncing from sublet to sublet for the past year-ish. I found a seemingly great little (<500 sq ft) apt, albeit overpriced, that was connected to the landlord’s (elder male) apartment. I wasn’t living there for even one month before he sexually propositioned me and continued to peep in my windows and otherwise behave in a very unacceptable manner. I happened to then correspond with a person on social media who had a friend in need of a good roommate.
I was elated to meet Daisy. She had had a string of less than desirable roommates/general living situations just previously as well and we were a perfect fit. Just one year my senior, she was also a health-concious, caring individual, as well as a cat mom to the sweetest 3 year old cat named Dandy.
Daisy and I were both trepidatious after our bad experiences but truly were a perfect fit for roommates.
For one week.
I only moved in 7 days before I woke up and found Daisy passed away inexplicably in her bed, little Dandy lying on her body as if to keep her warm.
Of course the shock was instantaneous, but the grief is long-lasting. I had 30 days to find another place. All while taking care of Dandy until her family/I could find a proper home for her. To say I was sad would be an understatement. I barely woke and bathed, and in my fog found the first person on social media who seemed like an ok fit for a roommate if only because of our short timeline to find the right place.
This person became angry and violent with me ending with the police being involved only one month later. I found myself once again in need of last-minute housing.
The person whom initiated the introduction between Daisy and myself felt terribly and took in me and my cats.
After several months of looking for and securing a higher paying job in April, I finally have close to the amount for a deposit for my own apartment. However I am still about twice that amount away from being able to get moved in a considerable amount of time—by July 1–and I’m asking for your help. I love life and love my job. I just don’t qualify for loans because of my student loan debt and I am just above the threshold for income-based housing.
Thanks for reading this far. Thanks for thinking positive thoughts for me!
