Nova is a 5-month-old puppy who belongs to Francine Scott-Hetrick. Francine reached out for help because Nova had gotten foxtails embedded in her "private areas" during a potty break. Foxtail plants are a weed-type grass with seeds that can become embedded in your pet's skin and cause serious health issues because the seeds can then migrate throughout the body, even becoming embedded in the lungs! Nova was finding it painful to urinate and was becoming lethargic and not eating.
I told Francine to call Dr. Panata because she is a vet who does house calls and is very reasonably priced. For $177, she came to Francine's home, sedated Nova, removed the foxtails, and gave Nova a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics. For an additional $59, she will be able to give Nova her vaccines in the comfort of her home, and Nova will be a fully-vaccinated, happy, healthy puppy. Additional funds that are raised will go towards one more round of antibiotics.
If several of us give small donations -- even $5, $10, or $20, we can pay off Francine's bill with Dr. Panata and make sure that Nova has all of her puppy vaccines. Nova is already signed up to be spayed through PAWS and will be spayed soon!
We all appreciate your help for animals in our community!
